i've seen those too, and the other day i saw a hitch hiker/homeless guy in echo park holding a sign that said "olympic + fig"

i don't know the deal, but i'm hoping it's some sort of cool event or something.

This smells and sounds like a stupid marketing trick. I'm guessing whatever they are trying to build hype for will be as dumb and unimaginative as this campaign.
