Interested in joining us at Metblogs as a contributor? Fantastic! The first thing you should do is read the FAQ Entry on becoming a New Author so that you know what we're looking for. Assuming that hasn't scared you off, please make a post here letting us know what city you are in and expressing your interest. We'll follow up with you ASAP and get things rolling.
One note, as mentioned on the FAQ some cities are full and not looking for new authors at the moment, but don't let that stop you from telling us you are interested as we'll keep you in queue and when a spot does open up we'll let you know. Thanks, looking forward to hearing from you!
Hello Sean .. this whole multiple logon procedure is somewhat daunting. I considered myself somewhat internet/computer savie until just a few moments ago :O) .. none-the-less, I have become a member of Metblog, living in the Sacramento area. Having been here for six months now, I am beginning to gain enough confidence to actually interview for a job that will require a daily commute, and we know that that situation is just rife with story telling possibilities. I could assign these tales of metropolitan mores to my own blog site, or I could be posting them here with that secondary display script for "the first left off Mobius Strip"
I would like to be considered for the privilege of providing provocative puerile postings to the Sacramento Metblog at some point in the near future .. the medium or long term future is too uncertain at this time for that sort of commitment, and if you have a problem with this I totally understand because my girlfriend has the same concerns.
Hi,
I'm originally from Karachi, but I moved to Toronto eight months ago to get a degree in Journalism. I've written a couple of articles for Dawn newpaper in Karachi, and I'm very interested in blogging for Metroblog Toronto because I find that there aren't enough creative outlets for an opinionated person like me on campus. I live in Scarborough, and there's always so much to write about but apart from posting random notes on Facebook, I can't do much else.
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Name: Andrew Jones
Proposed Articles: Lat Phrao Night Market, Chok Chai Si Talaat, Guide to Bangkok's 3 nu-disco/electro/indie nights, The Banmore electronics market and others. I would also like to write about the local art scenes. For a sample of my writing look here:
I am very interested in writing for the Karachi city Metblogs. I was born in this city and grew up here. For my studies I left the country for six years to go to the US, and now have been back in Karachi since the past two years. I notice that I have a very different take on things around the city given my experience in another country, and I usually end up offering a very different perspective for a lot of local things. I would like to share that on the metblogs with other readers as well since I am very passionate about my city, and would appreciate if you could add me as a writer for the Karachi metblogs.
For a small example of my work, you can check out the website www.historickarachi.com. The website was created and researched by me, and I was also the photographer for the majority of non-historic pictures on the website.
I'd be interesting in helping start the Tampa Bay Metblog. I'm a Tampa Bay resident (Plant City) with an eye on both what's going on in-town and also can share a lot of the "small town" feel that comes with living in Hillsborough County. I also spend a lot of time in Orlando if you are looking for authors for that area. Plant City is about 30-40 minutes from Tampa, where I normally work) and about an hour or so from Disney World and Orlando. I also blog/podcast/vodcast on http://thesacredproject.info.
If you've got room for another Montreal blogger, I'd love to contribute! I've got a cheap eats blog at Shoestring Montreal and have a day job profiling various businesses for the Yellow Pages, so I can definitely post stuff that relates to local restos and city guide kinds of stuff. Plus I am working on putting together a novel on the subject of Montreal, in letter format, verrrrrrrry slowly with my blog Letters From Montreal, so any more "research" I can do on my own city is always welcome.
P.S. Sorry about the barrage of communication; I just discovered Metblogs and must admit I am not entirely sure how to go about joining groups.
I see that the author requirements include that one live in (or around) the city one writes about and provide approximately 3 posts per week. My husband and I are passionate about New Orleans and spend 10 or 11 days at a time there at least twice a year. We have many friends in the city with whom we are in frequent contact and we hope to move there one of these days. I've blogged for the past three years, written a monthly newsletter (approx. 280 subscribers) for over four years, and am writing a novel set in the city. Do you ever make exceptions to the rules and allow posts from someone visiting a city?
Thanks for getting in touch but unfortunately this is one of our main rules that we don't budge on. Metblogs was started because we were tired of local media being driven by people who weren't locals and wanted to create a truly locally authored alternative. Sorry!
I'd really love to join as a contributing author for the Manila Metblog. There are tons of stuff that could (and should) be written about this melting pot of Southeast Asia. As a Filipino working in a multinational company employing professionals from Asia and Europe, I feel that there is a strong need to raise people's awareness on the socio-cultural dynamics in this city. I always get questions from my expat friends about how different things are in this city (compared to where they come from). My hope is that writing about the significant (as well as the more personal) events in this city would help bring about a better understanding (and hopefully appreciation) of why things are the way they are over here. Hoping to hear from you soon. Cheers!
I am a blogger, photographer, activist from Bangalore and would like to join as an author and write about my city.
I have been writing and doing quite a bit about Bangalore which can be read on my Blog: http://dayaprasadkulkarni.wordpress.com
Eagerly waiting to start writing on bangalore.metblogs.com
Have a few ideas up my sleeve.
I am living in Islamabad ( Pakistan) and would like to contribute to Islamabad Metblog . Earlier this year I had emailed to Islamabad Metblog and had expressed my interest in joining as a contributor at Islamabad Metblog . However, till-to-date I have not received any response from them. To my knowledge ( which is based on the information published under 'authors' section of Islamabad Metblog, there are only five people contributing for Islamabad Metblog . Among those five contributors, one of them 'A FOR [PINE]APPLE' has already left Islamabad city although I had seen one post from her recently ( Isn't it a kind of diversion from one of the rules of Metblogs "Authors are required to physically be in (or around) the city to which they are contributing") . Anyways, the point which I am trying to make here is that Islamabad Metblog is still short of 10 regular contributors limit and this could be one reason that fewer posts are published on weekly basis there .
I am still willing to volunteer for Islamabad Metblog if provided the opportunity . I have been blogging for the last two years and here is my most recent blog link
